Queensland MP Warren Entsch has criticised restrictions implemented across the entire Sunshine State after four locally acquired cases were identified on Monday. Three of the four new cases travelled while still infectious, with two traveling to Byron Bay and another to Gladstone, prompting state-wide restrictions. Mr Entsch said the mask mandate was “insane” in regions which are further away from Brisbane than Sydney or Melbourne. “They should be wearing masks in Sydney and Melbourne because we are further away from Brisbane than Melbourne is," he said. Tourist destinations such as Cairns were hoping a bumper Easter influx of tourists would take the string out of the end of JobKeeper. However, in response to Brisbane’s snap three-day lockdown several states have imposed hard borders on Queensland.
