States and territories urged to declare Greater Brisbane a COVID hotspot

Queensland authorities will declare Greater Brisbane a COVID-19 hotspot from 5pm this evening in conjunction with the three-day lockdown. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk also recommended other states and territories declare the area a hot spot as well. “Once we declare it, we are asking other people around the country to do that same thing and declare it as well," she said. Queensland Health Minister Yvette D’Ath confirmed she would be calling her New South Wales counterpart following the press conference particularly because two people had been in Byron Bay while being infectious. She urged anyone in Queensland or who had been travelling in Queensland since Saturday, March 20 and had been in Greater Brisbane to present for testing if they experience any symptoms.
