‘The signs are very encouraging’: Queensland reports just two new local cases

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has reported two new locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the state which are linked to the Princess Alexandra hospital nurse. “So today we only have three new cases, now one is hotel quarantine and two are community acquired but they are linked to the PA nurse," she said. "So it is another nurse at that PA COVID ward, my understanding is that she was vaccinated". The premier said the two new cases came from a total of 33,408 tests conducted over the past 24 hours. “That is a massive, massive number," she said. “I think that's probably our highest and I do want to thank Queenslanders for coming out and doing that. “So if we see the same number of test results tomorrow, this is very, very encouraging news”. Ms Palaszczuk urged residents to come forward for testing if they experience any symptoms because it is “critical” to rule out any unlinked community transmission. “The signs are very encouraging, and I want to thank everybody involved in this."
