Firefighters Battle Raging Fire at Paper Recycling Plant in Chicago

Firefighters battled a growing blaze at a paper recycling plant in an industrial area of Chicago, Illinois, on Tuesday, March 30. The Chicago Fire Department (CFD) said the fire started in an adjacent prairie and spread to a pile of paper being stored outside at a paper recycling factory before igniting the building itself. CFD said a hazmat unit was also called in for propane and “containers of acid” on the property. CFD reported that rail service to Midway Airport had been suspended. There were no injuries as of approximately 5 pm local time. Credit: Chicago Fire Media via Storyful
