Sky News contributor Michael Ware says a “bitter political brawl” has emerged in Washington over a proposal for a bipartisan commission to investigate the Capitol Hill riots. It comes after the US House of Representatives voted last week to create an independent commission to investigate the January 6 Capitol Hill riots. Mr Ware told Sky News the Republican House and Senate leaders turned on the commission after it was announced last Friday. “Politically this is a real minefield because one of the concerns is that a commission of investigation would bleed into 2022 when the all-important mid-term elections happen,” he said. “But if they don’t support this commission then the Democrat majority leader in the House Nancy Pelosi will create a select committee and do a really ugly political partisan investigation. “In one way the Republicans are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.”
