Prince William has responded to an inquiry into a BBC interview with his late mother Princess Diana, accusing it of contributing to fear, paranoia, and isolation. The prince said his mother was failed by rogue reporter Martin Bashir after it was found he acted in a dishonest way to secure the exclusive. Prince William said if the 1995 findings of an internal inquiry, which showed the same findings as the new inquiry, had been made public Princess Diana would have known she had been deceived. The Duke of Cambridge said the interview pushed a “false narrative” which was “commercialised” by the BBC. “It is my firm view that this Panorama program holds no legitimacy and should never be aired again,” he said.
