Victoria health authorities confirm two likely cases of COVID-19 in Melbourne’s north

Two likely coronavirus cases have emerged in Melbourne’s northern suburbs with health authorities advising it is understood the two are connected. The Victorian Department of Health is investigating the two new cases of the virus, and believes both the cases are linked. A statement from health authorities confirmed a “full investigation” was underway while both likely cases are isolated and retested immediately. “Initial public health actions are being put in place while both individuals isolate and are urgently retested,” the statement said. Victoria had gone 86 days without a locally acquired case of COVID-19, with the two new cases likely to break that streak. It comes two weeks after a man in his thirties tested positive for the virus after quarantining in South Australia.
