‘Double standards’ between eastern and western Sydney

Labor’s Ed Husic says there is an appearance of a double standard in relation to police operations in Western Sydney and what was experienced in the eastern suburbs. There is a police presence across south west Sydney to crack down on those getting out in the community and potentially spreading COVID-19. “We didn’t see this type of reaction from governments when we had the problems that were experienced on the Northern Beaches," Mr Husic told Sky News. "We certainly didn’t see this when there were crowds going to beaches or through the last few weeks in the eastern suburbs." “In fact you could go and buy a Louis Vuitton bag in Bondi and now if you’re buying groceries in Fairfield you’ll get a different type of reaction. “We cannot afford to have the appearance of double standards here.”
