Greater Sydney sees lockdown extended

Greater Sydney’s lockdown has been extended for another four weeks to August 28 in an attempt to curb its latest outbreak. The outbreak began in Bondi with an infected limousine driver and has reached a record high of 177 infections. Under new restrictions, Sydney residents are unable to shop more than 10 kilometres from their home. Three new local government areas are under tougher restrictions, with workers unable to leave their LGA unless authorised. Year 12 students will return to face-to-face learning on August 16, and Pfizer vaccine doses will be prioritised for those aged between 16 and 18 living in the high-risk LGA’s. A singles bubble for people living alone has also been announced.
