Andrews flags full freedoms may not be granted until vaccination rate picks up

Victoria's fifth lockdown has come to an end with a significant easing of restrictions, but Premier Daniel Andrews has flagged full freedoms will not be granted until the vaccination rate improves. As of this morning the state has become the only jurisdiction to suppress the Delta variant of the virus on two occasions. The stay-at-home direction and the five-kilometre rule have been lifted and hospitality and indoor gyms have reopened to 100 people. Funerals and weddings can resume with 50 people – not including the main party – but dance floors are not allowed at weddings. School will resume from today, but students aged 12 and up will be required to wear a mask. Mandatory masks will remain indoors across the state and no visitors are permitted to the home for the next two weeks.
