China ‘bristling’ at suggestions it was not ‘transparent’ in WHO investigation

China will be eager to highlight details in the World Health Organisation’s report into the origins of the coronavirus which indicate the disease was not leaked from a Wuhan facility, according to Asia correspondent Adrian Brown. “This is a strange report and its keenly anticipated but I think the world may not get all the answers that it wants,” he told Sky News. “Remember this WHO team visited Wuhan in February and they were shown what China wanted them to see … and this was a visit that was dogged by persistent questions about whether China was being transparent and open. “Now China says it has and it bristles as suggestions that it has not. “We’ve had hints about what might be in the report because a few weeks ago one if the WHO members gave a media conference and he said it seemed to them that virus did not leak – or it was highly unlikely – that the virus leaked from a laboratory. “And China will want I think that to be made categorically clear when the report is finally released sometime this week.”
