Flood victim Rob Costigan told Sky News it is “pretty heart wrenching” to have lost two houses and possessions in the floods after saving them from bushfires last year. “It’s pretty heart wrenching but it is what it is I guess,” he said. “Our neighbours are still stuck over there so we’ve had to rig up flying foxes to try and get them food and fuel and stock food for animals. “And they’re searching through the rubble trying to find anything of any sentimental value that belonged to us but most of it’s been washed own the creek, down the river”. Mr Costigan said the support from the local community in Wauchope had been “overwhelming”, and the family had been supplied with feed for their stock, gumboots for their children and meat from the butcher. “It won’t beat us, we fought through the fires and the drought, so this isn’t going to hold us down,” he said. “We’ll keep on keeping on”.
