NSW government considers mandatory masks in high schools

The News South Wales government is considering making masks mandatory for high school students as part of a COVID restriction level strategy. The planned restrictions would range from learning remotely as level four to COVID ‘normal’ as level one. NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell told Sky News, “when Greater Sydney schools go back it will obviously depend on the level of restriction that we will need to put them on”. “Our level three setting does have wearing masks as mandatory for that age group and it's all based on the health advice that we’re getting from the experts. “Next week, if any students have to go to school in the learning from home period because they can’t learn from home it will be required for students aged 13 and up and all of our staff, that’s based on the health advice. “For regional NSW when students are back next week, masks will be recommended but … at the moment in our regional communities we’re wearing masks indoors, that’s one of the health orders that we’ve got at the moment. “So I think communities are prepared for this.”
