Queensland accelerates plans for dedicated quarantine facility

Queensland is one step closer to a dedicated quarantine facility after it was revealed the state government has come up with a draft for the Damascus Barracks site near the Brisbane Airport. The facility will have 1,000 rooms and hold up to 1,450 people. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been increasingly speaking about the need for a dedicated facility particularly after the state’s most recent outbreak which led to a snap lockdown. On Sunday Queensland reported two new community cases which were both linked to the Portuguese restaurant cluster.
