Shouts Heard Minutes After Catastrophic Surfside Collapse

Footage taken minutes after the partial collapse of Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida, on June 24, captures people shouting for help as onlookers attempt to assist. David Araujo began recording footage at the site of the flattened condo shortly after it fell. The collapse occurred at around 1.20 am, according to the Miami Herald. In this footage, people can be heard shouting, saying they are trapped, while on the street, onlookers yell to take the stairs. Araujo also filmed some of the first firefighters who arrived at the scene. As of Friday, July 2, at least 22 deaths had been confirmed, while 126 people remained unaccounted for. Among the newly recovered fatalities was the seven-year-old daughter of a member of Miami Fire-Rescue, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said on Friday. Credit: David Araujo via Storyful
