The European Union has denied it is engaging in a COVID-19 vaccine export ban and is not targeting specific countries – saying its focus is on whether there is an unequal relationship in regards to exports to the United Kingdom. The EU Commission said it wanted to know where the vaccine doses being produced in the United Kingdom were going and whether it was justified – and whether it was in standing with the principles of transparency, reciprocity and proportionality. “Just since the introduction the export authorisation system some 10 million doses have been exported from EU to UK, and zero doses have been exported from UK to EU,” EU Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis said.
