Tasmanian devil joeys have been born in the wild on Australia’s mainland for the first time in more than 3,000 years, according to a local conservation group. This footage, uploaded by Australian conservation charity Aussie Ark, shows the seven joeys in their mothers’ pouch, who were born on the 400 acre Barrington Wildlife Sanctuary in Tomalla, New South Wales. According to Aussie Ark, Tasmanian devils became extinct on mainland Australia as they were outcompeted by dingoes. The dingoes never made it to the island state of Tasmania, where the devils continued to thrive. Aussie Ark says its team has been “working tirelessly for the better part of 10 years to return Devils to the wild of mainland Australia with the hope that they would establish a sustainable population.” Credit: Aussie Ark via Storyful
