Dragons players fined $305,000 for party

The NRL has cracked down on players who held a house party in Sydney at the weekend, dishing out fines totalling approximately $305,000 and 20 weeks of suspensions. There were 13 Dragons players at the party with host Paul Vaughan being the hardest hit by the penalties as he was handed a $50,000 fine and an eight week suspension. Dragons CEO Ryan Webb issued a statement saying the partygoers' “arrogance and ignorance” in ignoring state and NRL health advice was “upsetting and infuriating”. Player Jack de Belin, just four games into his NRL return, was fined $42,000 and suspended for one week and was alleged to have been found hiding under a bed when the party was raided by police. All players at the party except Mr Vaughan were given one week suspensions which will be staggered over a three week period.
