NSW SES Deputy Commissioner Daniel Austin says while the east coast of New South Wales is in the early stages of flood recovery, western parts of the state will see flooding for "quite some time”. “There’s still water to flow from Queensland into western parts of New South Wales," he said. "A number of the river catchments there really start well up into Queensland. “Our current predictions are at least another eight weeks on some of those catchments. Some of those catchments not in flood at this point in time but that will start to flow through. “Again, this is going to be a long, drawn out campaign. “It is very much in the swings of the early recovery phase across the east coast, but certainly parts of western NSW are going to be seeing floodwaters for quite some time”.
