Queensland aged care, hospitals, and prisons sent into lockdown over new COVID case

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced the state has recorded a new local case of COVID-19 in a 26-year-old man who was infectious in the community since last Friday. “He has been tested yesterday but he has been infectious in the community since last Friday,” Ms Palaszczuk said. The premier said the venues of concern include, “Carindale shopping centre, Bunnings at Stafford, fresh food market stalls at Newstead, there's a venue at Redcliffe and a couple of venues at Stafford”. In response to the new case aged care facilities, hospitals, prisons and disability services in the Brisbane City Council areas and Moreton will be closed to visitors from midday today. “What we are going to ask people of course in the Brisbane City Council areas and in Moreton, is that if you are in crowded areas, to wear a mask." "If you're going to a football match on the weekend, wear your mask going into the venue. If you are on a crowded train, put a mask on. "These are the sensible precautions and we will be updating you over the weekend if there are any more cases". Ms Palaszczuk urged people to practice social distancing and come forward for testing if they have any symptoms.
