Government set to slash childcare costs with $1.7b boost

The federal government will cover 95 per cent of out of pocket expenses for Australian families with more than one child in care under a $1.7 billion boost to encourage mother’s back into the workforce. The measure will save an average of $2200 a year for about 250,000 families. The plan has been criticised, however, by Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese who says the incentive will do nothing to improve the affordability of childcare.
