NSW crisis cabinet split over restrictions

The New South Wales government is split over how to curb the COVID outbreak in Sydney. The Greater Sydney lockdown was scheduled to end on Friday but it is clear that will not be the case after NSW recorded 145 new local infections on Monday with 51 infectious in the community. At Monday's media conference Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she will be providing updates over the next few days as to what life will look like for New South Wales residents beyond July 31. The crisis cabinet meeting last night lasted for around five-hours with many ministers at odds with each other over what should be done next to manage the outbreak. Some want restrictions to be tightened in suburbs closer to the epicentre of the outbreak and easing in other suburbs.
