Lightning Flashes in Smoke From Caldor Fire Over South Lake Tahoe

Evacuation warnings were issued for South Lake Tahoe, California, on Sunday, August 29, as the Caldor Fire approached the area. Mandatory evacuations were in place for the areas west and south of South Lake Tahoe, including the towns of Fallen Leaf, Meyers, Echo Lake, and Phillips. The Caldor Fire had grown to over 275 square miles and was 14 percent contained as of Monday, August 30.
