New Orleans Resident Surveys Damage to Jazz Landmark After Ida Passes

Storm Ida made landfall in southern Louisiana as a powerful Category 4 hurricane on Sunday, August 29, sending a strong storm surge and flooding rain across the Gulf Coast. Video by Marcus Oliver shows street flooding, downed trees, and damage in New Orleans on Monday morning. He told Storyful the bricks and debris seen in the footage were from Karnofsky tailor shop, an important site in the history of jazz destroyed by the hurricane, local reports said. Ida was downgraded to a tropical storm early Monday as it moved across southwestern Mississippi. Credit: Marcus Oliver via Storyful
