US intercepts rockets fired on Kabul airport as withdrawal enters final stage

In Afghanistan evacuation flights are winding down, after the US was forced to intercept rocket attacks on Kabul Airport – and hope is fading for any US citizens left in the country. In the final hours of the US military presence in Afghanistan a US counter-rocket system managed to take out five rockets launched on Kabul Airport. The US has confirmed in the 24 hours to 3am today to 3 am yesterday they managed to evacuate another 1200 people. The entire withdrawal process has seen 116,700 people evacuated either by the US or by their facilitative missions since August 14. The Biden administration has been deliberately opaque about the exact withdrawal time of US military personnel from Afghanistan.
