Firefighters worked to contain the Fly Fire near Quincy, California, on July 23, after it ignited the day prior around 5 pm near the raging Dixie Fire. The 1,650-acre Fly Fire was zero percent contained on Friday morning, the US Forest Service said. Local reports said the Fly Fire prompted a closure of Highway 70, and the flames were “hit heavy” by aircraft tackling the blaze. This video recorded by Instagram user @jac___clark in Quincy, who said they took it on July 22, shows the fire emitting smoke plumes. Meanwhile, the nearby Dixie Fire grew to 142,940 acres (about 223 square miles), officials said on July 23. Credit: @jac___clark via Storyful
