The European Union has fiercely rejected demands from the United Kingdom to re-negotiate a crucial part of the Brexit deal that dictates how trade is done with Northern Ireland. Lord Frost - the UK's Brexit Minister - warned the nation cannot go on with the Northern Ireland Protocol - which is the agreement that allows goods to move freely between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. "We've seen difficulties not just on the famous chilled meats issue, but on medicines, on pets, on movements of live animals, on seeds and plants and many others," he said. "Put very simply, we cannot go on as we are." The UK has asked the EU to at least agree to a standstill period to provide more time for negotiations.
