ADF evacuates over 2,600 from Afghanistan

It is believed dozens of Australians and around 1,000 Afghans with Australian visas are stuck in Kabul unable to reach the airport. Chaos continues in the capital as the deadline looms and the Taliban tries to stop the departure of the educated elite. A senior Australian government official says RAAF flights could be sustained until Friday before making way for thousands of allied troops to depart. A third planeload of evacuees has arrived in Australia, with around 2,650 airlifted by the ADF so far. While each flight out is dangerous, the number rescued is now far in excess of what the ADF had hoped, but it is believed there are still many people who need saving. America has already evacuated over 70,000 people - many of them women and children.
