Authorities in Puyallup, Washington, issued evacuation orders on August 21 after a fire broke out at a “cold storage building”, local police said. Central Pierce Fire & Rescue said the building contained “1,000 lbs of anhydrous ammonia.” Police said the mandatory evacuation of area homes and businesses was ordered due to the threat of potential “toxic chemicals and explosions from the fire scene.” According to KIRO 7, no injuries had been reported.
