PM wishes vaccination targets were lower

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has revealed he wishes the vaccination targets for reopening had been set lower, but he is still hopeful they will be met. The targets were set by National Cabinet on Friday after they received crucial modelling from the Doherty Institute about when it will be safe to open. The first target is 70 per cent - which will see less restrictions for vaccinated Australians – and the second target is 80 per cent. Mr Morrison wrote in The Australian this morning, “like you I wish it were lower. But it’s not. It’s what the detailed scientific analysis of the virus tells us”. “The science of Covid-19 writes these rules, not us, so we just have to adjust and beat it. “If the virus changes again we’ll have to do the same.”
