The Taliban has made rapid gains in rural areas of Afghanistan since the withdrawal of coalition forces. There are fears the country is on the brink of a humanitarian crisis as tens of thousands are displaced. Afghani locals are fleeing to the north of the country as violence increases and the terrorist group takes control of more ground. The Taliban has its sights set on three major cities and hopes to re-establish an Islamic emirate, with Lashkar Gar being the most at risk.
