Victoria wakes up to its sixth lockdown

Victorians are waking up to their sixth lockdown just nine days after their fifth, amid concerns over two mystery COVID clusters. Under the restrictions, residents can only leave their homes for purposes which include essential work or shopping, exercise, and care or caregiving. Around 2,500 staff and students at Al-Taqwa College in Melbourne’s west are racing to get tested after a female teacher worked while infectious. This school was at the centre of a major outbreak during last year’s second wave. The teacher’s partner is now also infected, as well as two of his family members in another household. Victorian residents are due to have spent more than 190 days in lockdown since the pandemic began .
