The World Health Organisation confirms the Delta variant of COVID-19 is fast becoming the dominant variant. The United Kingdom has reported a steep rise in Delta infections, Germany's top officials predict it to also take over rising case numbers, and the variant is causing fears of a third wave in Russia. The World Health Organisation has repeated the need for vaccines to be delivered to third-world countries as Namibia, Sierra Leone, and Rwanda have seen cases double in a week.
