Swimmers Cool Off in Seattle-Area Lake as Temperatures Soar

Seattle-area residents sought relief from a record-breaking heat wave on Monday, June 28, dipping into Angle Lake in SeaTac as temperatures climbed to once more exceed 100 F. Seattle set a new record high on Sunday of 104 F, but that temperature was expected to be surpassed on Monday, with meteorologists predicting highs of as much as 110 F. Dozens of people visited emergency rooms in King County, Washington, with heat-related illnesses, according to reports. Seattle residents have bought more air conditioners in recent years, but the city remains the least air-conditioned of any major US metro area. This footage, taken on Monday morning, shows swimmers in Angle Lake, located south of Seattle in King County.
