SA pre-emptively imposes restrictions despite no community cases

South Australia has begun new restrictions despite no cases being detected in the community with authorities pre-emptively imposing the rules in case the highly transmissible Delta variant reaches the state. Restaurant capacity has been halved and standing while drinking has been banned in pubs and clubs. Premier Steven Marshall also said, “we will be banning singing for the next 12 weeks in those high-density arrangements”. “There’s no doubt these new restrictions will be very frustrating, they’ll be very inconvenient, but the alternative is the potential for a full-scale lockdown.”
