Raleigh Residents Warned of Venomous Pet Cobra on the Loose

Residents of Raleigh, North Carolina, were warned on June 29 to be on the lookout for a venomous zebra cobra after it escaped from its owner’s home. The Raleigh Police Department released this 911 call of a resident who reported a sighting of the reptile to police on June 28. Police said an animal control officer responded to the 7000 block of Sandringham Drive after receiving a report that the snake was spotted on the porch of a property. The officer was unable to find the snake when they arrived, police said. “During the follow-up investigation, it was discovered that the zebra cobra is missing from a resident’s home in the area,” police said in a statement. “Residents are advised that the venomous snake is still on the loose and could spit and bite if cornered. If anyone sees the snake, they are asked to call 911 immediately.” Credit: Raleigh Police Department via Storyful
