Melbourne residents are being warned they will not immediately return to pre-lockdown conditions once the lockdown lifts - with the state expected to experience heavy restrictions for weeks to come. However, restrictions will ease in regional areas from 11:59pm tonight with hospitality to reopen for seated service with capacity rules and outdoor gatherings of 10 permitted. There will be no ‘ring of steel’ imposed to separate the city from the regions but roving police patrols will look to catch those who attempt to cross between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
