National Guard Assist Crews Battling Lava Fire in Siskiyou County, California

National Guard aircraft assisted ground crews in battling the Lava Fire in Siskiyou County, California, that burned 19,680 acres (about 31 square miles) and was 25 percent contained on Thursday, July 1, according to fire officials. This aerial footage released by the California National Guard shows fire retardant lines on the ground that allowed firefighters to build a perimeter around the blaze, they said.
