Stolen Ambulance Crashes Into Ditch During Police Chase

A 58-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing an ambulance and fleeing police in a vehicle chase that ended with a crash in Joliet, Illinois, on July 1, police said. The Joliet Police Department said officers were called to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center at around 12:46 am ​on July 1 after a person stole an ambulance from the ambulance parking bay. Police said they saw the stolen ambulance near the intersection of Barney Drive and West Jefferson Street as they headed toward the medical center. This dashcam footage shows an officer locating the ambulance and engaging in a police chase. The ambulance speeds away from police and ultimately collides with another car, rolls over a guardrail, and crashes in a ditch. The Joliet Police Department said Joliet resident Henry McCall was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding, obstructing a peace officer, and driving while license suspended.
