The United States has taken a major step to ending the Afghanistan War, leaving the airbase which has been the centre of their operations against the Taliban for 20 years. President Joe Biden has pledged to complete a full troop withdrawal by September 11 but there are concerns the country could descend into a civil conflict after thousands of lives have been lost.
