NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is pointing to 50 per cent state-wide vaccination coverage by the end of the month in order to ease some restrictions. That target has prompted pushback from the nation's leaders – including Prime Minister Scott Morrison - amid concerns it's not enough to prevent further cases and deaths. “By the end of August I’d like to see NSW record 6 million jabs,” Ms Berejiklian said on Tuesday. However, her vaccine targets are at odds with the Doherty Institute modelling which was agreed to by National Cabinet on Friday last week. The modelling warns any outbreak running rampart in a community with less than 70 per cent of its population vaccinated would see rapid and uncontrolled growth with significant mortality.
