Staggered NSW school reopening plans

Students in kindergarten to year two and those in year 11 are expected to be the first to return to the classroom in New South Wales as part of a staged reopening once vaccination rates reach 70 per cent. Year six students will be part of the second stage of a return to face-to-face learning in October to help prepare them for high school. Health and Education officials will reportedly meet again today to discuss the strategy which is expected to be presented to crisis cabinet tomorrow. NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant told Budget Estimates there are several factors to consider - including vaccination - before allowing schools to return.
