Apple to take on Zoom with FaceTime overhaul

Tech Expert Trevor Long says Apple’s overhaul of FaceTime will allow anyone join calls - even if they don’t have an Apple device - just like they can with Zoom. “They’re making FaceTime a little bit more robust, so they’re making it kind of similar to Zoom in that you can have grid view as opposed to Apple’s fancy cartoony-style approach,” he said. “They’re also allowing you to send email invitations, calendar invitations to a FaceTime in the same way that we do today with Zoom so that anyone from a PC can use their web browser. “You don’t have to have an iPhone or a Mac to get into a FaceTime call, you can actually invite anyone in. “For me this is a shot against Zoom because Zoom’s a publicly listed company making a lot of money from the pandemic in that we all signed up for it and paid for pro versions. “So this is huge, I think it’s a big change”. Mr Long told Sky News the revamped FaceTime will be rolled out around September when the new iPhone is released.
