The delta variant of coronavirus has made its way from India into Melbourne but health authorities are yet to establish how it got there as the infections are not linked to the city's wider cluster of cases. There are seven people believed to be positive with the delta variant of COVID-19 which has become dominant in India. The strain has infected a family of four including two children who attended North Melbourne primary school and the family had visited Jervis Bay in New South Wales. New South Wales has recorded no cases for the second day straight and health authorities are adamant the strain has not been detected. The source of the delta strain remains a mystery.
