‘No major hostilities’ in Biden and Putin meeting

US President Joe Biden’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin when well “overall” since there were "no major hostilities”, according to Cypress College Political Science Professor Peter Mathews. President Biden recently travelled to the United Kingdom for the G7 summit with a number of world leaders including Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Scott Morrison which was then followed by a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva. “He did not hope to accomplish a whole lot of big things, and yet they did set certain markers down,” Professor Mathews said. “In fact, Biden told President Putin there are certain areas of cyber security that are sacrosanct, that there shouldn’t be any kind of attacks on those areas which are intrinsic to the infrastructure of the United States. “So he’s been very firm about that and yet at the same time they’ve also talked about common ground. They’re going to work on arms control, they’re going to work on treaties that … will help keep the world more stable and themselves more stable. “Overall I think it went well because there was no major hostilities or major points that they would fall apart on. “They agreed to disagree on certain things, and they agreed to agree on what they could agree on and get moving on it”.
