Rough Surf Crashes on Florida Beach as Potential Tropical Cyclone Nears

Rough seas were reported on Friday morning, June 18, in Panama City Beach, Florida, as a potential tropical cyclone moved through the Gulf of Mexico. This footage shows choppy waves crashing on the shore as Florida braced for the potential tropical cyclone, which threatens the region with “heavy rain that may lead to flooding, deadly rip currents, and a few tornadoes,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said. A rip current risk and a high surf advisory were expected to last through Sunday night. The NWS issued a flash-flood watch for parts of the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama, and portions of southwest Georgia. Credit: @meljoy82 via Storyful
