Vic business leader argues mask requirement will discourage return to the office

Coronavirus restrictions are set to ease further in Victoria, but business leaders are not happy with some of the remaining measures, particularly the requirement for workers to wear mask at their desks. Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Paul Guerra said while he understands the need for mask on public transport and while walking through offices, workers should not have to wear them while seated at desk because this will discourage them from returning to the office. Office capacity is set to increase to 75 per cent as of tonight but Mr Guerra said it would not make a difference if the mask measure remains in place. Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton defended the measure as an “insurance” policy against the spread of COVID-19.
