‘I haven’t seen that poll’: Biden questioned over declining confidence in his leadership

While taking questions from reporters, US President Joe Biden says he has not seen the poll which reveals while a majority of Americans wanted to withdraw from Afghanistan, they disapprove of the way he handled it. The CBS poll found that while 63 per cent of Americans approved of withdrawing US troops from Afghanistan, only 47 per cent approved of the way President Biden handled the withdrawal. The poll also found Mr Biden’s overall approval ratings had dropped eight points to an even 50-50 split. “I haven’t seen that poll,” Mr Biden said. The president also defended his decision to withdraw and said he believes history will record it was the “logical, rational, and right decision to make”.
