Severe Storms Soak Northeastern Illinois

Severe thunderstorms moved through Illinois on Tuesday, August 24, bringing localized flooding and gusty winds to parts of the state, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. Footage shared on Twitter by Adam Chappelle shows buckets of rain coming down in Homewood, south of Chicago, on Tuesday evening. A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for parts of the greater Chicago area on Tuesday. The NWS said Aurora Airport recorded a wind gust of 47 mph.
