Victorians eagerly waiting for decision on stadium crowds

Victorians are eagerly awaiting a decision on whether crowds will soon be allowed at Melbourne sporting stadiums - with the AFL pushing for fans to return in time for round 16. Acting Premier James Merlino revealed on Monday discussions were underway about a further easing of restrictions with authorities considering the possibility of 20 to 30 per cent capacity at stadiums. The A-League has also been impacted by the post-lockdown restrictions with Melbourne in danger of losing the grand final for the second year in a row to Sydney. Melbourne City bosses have been pushing the state government to allow 50 per cent capacity at AAMI Park this weekend which would come to about 15,000 people. They have said there is a possibility the game could be moved to Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta if a decision is not made by tonight.
